New Hope Missionary Baptist Church is fortunate to have the privilege of working with the residents of the Pomona Valley.  Church members, volunteers and interns from the community play a crucial part in assisting the church and community at-large.  We seek "willing workers" to help us build a successful Church Community Resource Center.

Requirements

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and must complete volunteer application.  Processing of an application typically takes one week.  Those completing hours for school or as part of court-mandated service are advised to complete an application well in advance of deadlines.

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Ministries are an integral part of church life. The challenge confronting the smaller church is not only in recruiting people to serve, but also in developing a sense of teamwork within the different ministries. While people in smaller churches — especially rural areas — are strongly relational, they also are independent and self-sufficient. They tend to be more inflexible in their ideas; and, as a result, when they work with others, they can easily become frustrated when their ideas are not adopted. Yet, God has designed the church to be the ultimate expression of teamwork. Paul makes it clear in 1 Corinthians 12 that Christians in the body of Christ are to function interdependently rather than be independent of one another. The fact God has established a plurality of leadership within the church implies that the church is to function as a team (Ephesians 4:11–13). While a pastor cannot force people to work well with others, he can provide an environment that fosters teamwork.

The Church and Community want our local educators to lend their expertise and support as a resource to the community which they live.  The Church would like to hosts a Saturday community breakfast for our seniors and residents living in the community.  We would like to add a seminar segment that offers information to our seniors and community residents on social service, disaster preparedness, health education an activism in community service events.

Our goal is to invite community leaders, business owners, teachers, social service representatives, counselors, helathcare professionals, legal and law enforcement officals to the church-community events to talk with the residents and our congregation on issues impacting our community and to create awarenes.
